Which watch do you have?

The fastest ways: skip files entirely

Suunto that syncs to the Suunto app? Connect your Suunto account once and every dive — your whole history, then each new one — arrives on its own. Nothing to export, ever.

Garmin? Plug it straight into this website on a computer and every dive is read off the watch over USB — no install, no export (pick Garmin above for the steps). Works in these browsers:

Chrome Edge

Another dive computer? Shearwater, Mares, Cressi, older Suuntos and the rest of the 361 models: the free desktop app reads them over Bluetooth, USB or their cable — Mac today, Windows imminently.

No app needed: bring a file

FIT is the standard file your dive watch writes for each dive — a compact recording of every data point (time, depth, temperature, heart-rate). Garmin and Suunto both export it, UDDF covers most other apps, and freediving.studio reads them all: pick your watch above for the exact steps.

Chrome Edge on a computer

Those are the two browsers that can talk to USB devices (if the internet came with your computer, you likely have Edge already). Not available on phones, or in Safari and Firefox — everything else on this page works everywhere. On a Mac, the Mac app does the same over USB — no browser needed.

The fastest route if you have a pile of dives: no export, no Garmin Connect. We read them straight off the watch.

Set the watch's USB mode to MTP (on a Descent: Settings → System → USB Mode → MTP). Garmin's own mode won't work.

Connect it to your computer with the charging cable, then open freediving.studio in Chrome or Edge.

Hit Import Dives (top-right) and choose Connect. Your browser asks which device to use — pick the watch.

We check every activity on the watch, skip the runs and rides, and show you the dives. Ones already in your logbook are flagged, so re-connecting later only offers what's new.

Read-only: we never write to, change or delete anything on the watch. Your browser remembers the permission, so next time it connects without asking. Suunto and Shearwater computers can't be read this way — they speak a protocol browsers aren't allowed to use — so for those, use their own sections on this page.

No computer needed — works from your phone. Using Garmin Connect (web at connect.garmin.com, or the mobile app).

Make sure your dive has synced to Garmin Connect — open the app or connect.garmin.com and find the dive in your activity list.

Open the dive, then tap the ⋯ / gear menu (top-right on the activity).

Choose “Export Original” — that downloads the .FIT file (on the web it saves a file; on mobile use the share sheet to save to Files).

Back in freediving.studio, hit Import Dives (top-right) and pick that file — or just drag it onto the page.

S Suunto — which one is yours?

Suunto watches take two different roads in, and it depends only on whether yours talks to the Suunto phone app.

1 Connect once, never export again

Your watch syncs to the Suunto app on your phone — so it can sync here too. Connect your Suunto account once and authorise it. Your whole dive history comes across on its own, and every future dive appears in your logbook moments after the watch syncs — no files, ever.

D5, EON, Ocean, Vertical, Race, 9 Peak, 9 Baro and every other Suunto that pairs with the phone app. Not the older cabled computers (D4i, D4f, D6i, D9…) — those never reach the Suunto app, so their road is the desktop app.

2 One dive, as a file

Using the Suunto app (the free-diving / dive activity) — for a one-off, or if you would rather not connect the account.

Open the Suunto app and let your watch sync, then open the dive from your diary.

Open the dive and use the share / export option, then choose to export the .FIT (or original) file.

Save it to Files / your device via the share sheet.

Back here, hit Import Dives and choose the file — or drag it onto the page. We detect every dive inside it.

A D5 or EON also works with the desktop app over USB or Bluetooth — handy for a whole logbook in one go without connecting the account.

S Older Suunto computers — D4i, D4f, D6i, D9, DX, Zoop, Vyper, Cobra Desktop app

These came out before watches synced to phones — no Bluetooth, no Suunto app, no cloud, so automatic sync cannot reach them and never will. Everything comes off over Suunto's clip-on USB interface cable, and the free desktop app reads it directly.

Find your Suunto USB cable — the clip-on one that came in the box. Without it there is no way to get the dives out: nothing reads these computers wirelessly, and the Suunto phone app can't see them at all.

Download the desktop app (Mac today, Windows very soon) and sign in with your freediving.studio account.

Clip the cable onto the watch and plug it in. The app finds the cable by itself; a cable can't say what's on the end of it, so pick your model once from the list — it's remembered.

Review and import. Every dive still on the watch, with its full depth profile — and dives already in your logbook are left unticked, so plugging in after a trip only offers what's new.

Read-only: nothing is written to the watch. If a dive-log program on your computer already holds these dives, its UDDF export imports here too — but the app skips that step entirely.

Shearwater, Mares, Cressi, Oceanic & most others Desktop app

41 brands read directly, over Bluetooth or their cable — Teric, Peregrine, Puck, Leonardo, Quad and hundreds more. Check your exact model.

Download the desktop app and sign in with your freediving.studio account — no pairing codes, no setup.

Wake the watch and turn on its Bluetooth, or plug in its cable, and press Scan. The app recognises what it finds.

Review and import. Dives already in your logbook are unticked, so reconnecting only offers what's new — and everything appears on the website and your phone. It's the same account.

The Windows version of the app is close behind. In the meantime, if a dive-log program on your PC already holds the dives, its UDDF export imports here.

Atmos and other dive apps Website · iPhone · Android

Via .UDDF, the open dive-log format.

In the ATMOS app (or whichever app you use), select the dives you want and export them as .UDDF.

Bring that file here the same way as a .FIT — Import Dives, or drag it onto the page. UDDF is an open standard, so exports from other dive computers and apps work too.

Moving over from Apnealizer Website, on a computer

The backup file is read in your browser on the website. The iPhone and Android apps can't open it — do this once on a computer and your dives sync to the apps automatically.

In Apnealizer, create a backup. It produces a .zip file.

Get that file onto your computer — AirDrop, email it to yourself, or save it to your cloud drive.

On freediving.studio, hit Import Dives and pick the .zip. Your whole history comes across in one go — every dive's depth profile, heart rate and temperature, plus your named dive sites and favourites.

Menu names differ slightly between watch models and app versions, but the export flow is always the same: open the dive → export the original / .FIT → bring it here. Nothing is uploaded to us until you're signed in and choose to save — imports are read on your device.
