Privacy Policy

Last updated: 24 July 2026

This policy explains what data freediving.studio (the "Service" — our web app and our iOS app) collects, why, where it goes and how to get rid of it. The short version: your account and dive data are stored so the Service works, your videos are rendered on your device, we don't sell data, we don't run ads, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.

1. Who we are

freediving.studio is operated by Pixelated Limited, a private limited company incorporated in England and Wales on 28 March 2008 (company number 06544028; registered office: 1 Bridge House, St. George Wharf, London, SW8 2LP), which is the data controller for the personal data described here. Contact: hello@freediving.studio.

2. What we collect

Location (optional)Your live position is used on your device to pin dive sites and suggest the nearest saved site. Dive sites you choose to save (name and coordinates) are stored with your profile so they sync across your devices, and dives imported from a watch may include the GPS position recorded in the .FIT fileYour device, only if you grant permission; .FIT files you import
VideosFootage you pick from your photo library for dive-video editingYour photo library — rendered on your device, never uploaded to our servers

We do not collect payment-card details (Stripe, Apple or Google handle payment directly), advertising identifiers, contacts, browsing history, or any data from other apps.

3. How we use it

Legal bases (UK/EU GDPR): performance of a contract (running your account), legitimate interests (security, service operation), and consent where you grant device permissions (location, photo library, Bluetooth, Apple Health).

Health data. Heart-rate and SpO₂ readings — whether from a monitor you connect, Apple Health, or an imported dive file — are used only to show you your own training and dive analysis. We never use health data for advertising or marketing, never sell it, and never share it with third parties for purposes other than running the Service. Data read from Apple Health stays on your device unless you save it — a heart-rate reading recorded into a training session, or a dive (depth and water temperature) you choose to import into your logbook; you can revoke Health access at any time in the Health app (Sharing → Apps).

4. AI features

When you use the AI coach, the numeric metrics of the dives being analysed (depth/time series, heart rate, discipline, notes — not your videos) are sent to our AI provider (Google Gemini) to generate the analysis. Calendar and training-plan features additionally send training summaries: dates and counts of sessions, personal bests, dive-site names you have entered, and the goals and availability you describe to the plan builder. We never send your name, email address or account details to the AI provider. The output is stored with your account so you can see it again. AI requests are not used by us or by Google to train AI models.

Your choice. In the iOS and Android apps, AI features are off until you explicitly turn them on — a consent card explains what is shared before anything is sent, and you can turn the AI coach off again at any time in the app's settings. On-device insights (computed entirely on your phone) work without AI consent. If you never enable the AI coach, none of your data is sent to the AI provider by the apps.

5. Sharing & visibility

6. Service providers

We use a small set of processors to run the Service: Supabase (database, authentication, file storage), Google Cloud (backend hosting, background processing), Vercel (web hosting), Cloudflare (DNS/edge), Google Gemini (AI analysis), Google Analytics (aggregate usage analytics), Stripe and RevenueCat (payments and subscription state), Resend (transactional email), and Apple / Google (sign-in, app distribution and in-app billing). Each receives only what it needs to do its job.

7. International transfers

Our providers may process data outside the UK/EEA (primarily in the United States). Where they do, transfers are protected by standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision (e.g. the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where applicable).

8. Retention

Your data is kept for as long as your account exists. Server logs are kept for a short operational window. When you delete your account, your data is deleted as described below; residual copies in encrypted backups roll off within the backup cycle.

9. Deleting your account & data

You can delete individual dives at any time. To delete your whole account and everything in it:

Full step-by-step instructions are on our account-deletion page.

Deletion removes your account, profile, dives, imported files, training sessions, video projects, AI analyses and share links. It is immediate and cannot be undone. Payment records held by Stripe/Apple/Google are retained by them as required for financial compliance.

10. Your rights

Under UK/EU data-protection law you can ask for access to, correction of, deletion of, or a portable copy of your personal data, object to or restrict processing, and withdraw consent (e.g. revoke location permission in iOS Settings). Contact us at hello@freediving.studio and we'll respond within a month. You can also complain to your supervisory authority (in the UK, the ICO).

11. Cookies, analytics & tracking

The web app stores what's needed to keep you signed in and remember your preferences on your device (your authentication session and local settings). It also uses Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate usage — which features people use and how the app performs — so we can improve it. This sets analytics cookies/identifiers on your device. We have turned off ad-personalisation signals, Google Analytics does not store your full IP address, and we never use analytics data for advertising or sell any data. You can opt out at any time using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or your browser's cookie controls. There is no advertising, no cross-site ad tracking, and no selling of personal data.

The iOS app contains no ads and no advertising/tracking SDKs, and does not request the App Tracking Transparency permission, because it does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

12. Children

The Service is not directed at children and requires you to be at least 16 (or your country's age of digital consent, if higher). We do not knowingly collect data from children; if you believe a child is using the Service, contact us and we will delete the account.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be flagged in the app. Continued use after changes take effect means the updated policy applies.
